<title>Rendez-Vous 2006 and Net-Z 2006 Released</title>
<link>http://www.quazal.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=72</link>
<description>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Quazal Releases Rendez-Vous &amp;rsquo;06 and Net-Z &amp;lsquo;06
New version of Rendez-Vous combines with Spark! for unmatched ease-of-use.

MONTR&amp;Eacute;AL, CANADA &amp;ndash; March 20th, 2006 &amp;ndash; Quazal, the leading independent provider of online multiplayer components for PCs and consoles games, today releases new versions of Quazal Rendez-Vous&amp;reg;, the highly acclaimed and highly flexible lobby and matchmaking service, and Net-Z&amp;reg;, the award-winning in-game networking solution for 2006.

The most visible addition to Rendez-Vous 2006 is its interface into the new Quazal offering, Quazal Spark!. By combining Quazal Rendez-Vous with Spark!, developers can get a major jumpstart on their lobby development, letting them exploit generalized features such as full account management, friends list, matchmaking and statistics in a matter of days.

&amp;ldquo;Rendez-Vous has always been known for its flexibility, its extensibility, and now it will also be known for its easy development and integration,&amp;rdquo; said Martin Lavoie, CTO at Quazal.  &amp;ldquo;Using feedback from our existing partners and teams in evaluation, we gathered a list of features that would satisfy a majority of games, and set out to provide these for developers to use with minimal effort.  We&amp;rsquo;ve succeeded with this new release.&amp;rdquo;

While the interface between Rendez-Vous and Spark! drastically eases developers implementation time, it does not limit Rendez-Vous&amp;rsquo; extensibility. By using the features of Spark! as a template, developers can easily see how to extend these features out to cover more advanced functionality, thereby significantly lowering the learning curve for developing additional and advanced features with Rendez-Vous. Developers looking to add unique elements to their online lobby systems can quickly learn how to exploit the concepts in Rendez-Vous in an efficient manner, rapidly developing features that their end users will love, and integrating them quickly into their existing Spark! UI.

&amp;ldquo;Whether you&amp;rsquo;re a developer doing a single integration, or a publisher looking for a cross-title solution, Rendez-Vous will fit the bill,&amp;rdquo; said Mike Drummelsmith, Developer Relations Manager at Quazal.  &amp;ldquo;With the new features in this version of Rendez-Vous, and the incredible implementation benefits of Quazal Spark!, your lobby can be up and running remarkably quickly, giving peace of mind, and leaving plenty of time for extended features if so desired.&amp;rdquo;

Quazal&amp;rsquo;s Net-Z in-game networking solution also joins Rendez-Vous in its new naming convention, with Net-Z 2006. Through combined use of these technologies, developers and publishers can benefit from the industry&amp;rsquo;s best NAT traversal for peer-to-peer gaming, ensuring the highest connectivity for their users.

Quazal will be occupying booth #644 at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose, March 22nd to 24th. Any interested parties are encouraged to contact inf&#111;&#064;&#113;uazal.com in order to arrange a meeting, or to simply stop by the booth to learn more about our products.

Quazal Net-Z, including the SyncSim and Voice extensions, and Quazal Rendez-Vous are available immediately for Microsoft Windows&amp;reg; and home console systems. Interested parties can reach Quazal at sale&#115;&#064;&#113;uazal.com for further information on pricing. Visit http://www.quazal.com/ for more details.

While Spark! eases the burden of online developers, it in no way stifles their creativity and their ability to implement unique online features in their lobby.

&amp;ldquo;End users like consistency and a good, solid set of features. It&amp;rsquo;s going to be very, very big.&amp;rdquo;

<title>Quazal and THQ Join Forces</title>
<link>http://www.quazal.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=68</link>
<description>Quazal and THQ Join Forces
Top-tier publisher and top-tier middleware enter into multi-year agreement

Montreal, Quebec (March 16th, 2006) – Quazal, makers of the Net-Z and Rendez-Vous online multiplayer middleware, and THQ, one of the top publishers of interactive games for home consoles and home computers worldwide announce today that THQ and its studios have added Quazal’s Net-Z and Rendez-Vous technologies for use in their online efforts through 2007.

The partnership starts with several internal studios, including Rainbow Studios and Relic Entertainment, as well as several externally developed games.

“THQ is one of the most prolific publishers in the world, with worldwide operations, hugely popular licenses, and a great slate of development partners,” said Mike Drummelsmith, Developer Relations Manager at Quazal. “It’s going to be great to tackle the needs of these studios, as they have some high aspirations, and some great design goals. It’s an exciting opportunity!”

With the new versions of Net-Z and Rendez-Vous, developers can integrate and implement their advanced lobby features more quickly than ever before, and with Quazal’s Expert Services consulting division, developers can offload their lobby and networking development, lowering implementation times, and hence lowering risks.

“Connectivity is a priority,” stated Jonathan Dowdeswell of Relic Entertainment. “Quazal has a great NAT traversal implementation and, on the support side, Quazal’s team has been incredibly helpful whenever we’ve needed it.”

With several titles already on shelves, Quazal’s Net-Z and Rendez-Vous are proven technologies and services. This confidence helped THQ make their decision on Rendez-Vous.

“We received several recommendations internally for Quazal’s services,” said Tim Campbell, Director of Business Development for THQ. “After further evaluation, we found Net-Z and Rendez-Vous to be affordable, powerful and reliable.”

The first titles in this agreement will be announced soon, and will be available in 2006. Developers interested in Quazal’s technology can visit http://www.quazal.com for more details, or e-mail inf&#111;&#064;&#113;uazal.com, and can meet with the Quazal team at this year’s Game Developer’s Conference at booth #644.

<title>Net-Z 4.3 et Rendez-Vous 2.0</title>
<link>http://www.quazal.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=67</link>
<description>

&quot;Ces nouvelles versions de Net-Z et de Rendez-Vous représentent un bond en avant en terme de robustesse, de fonctionnalités et de facilité d'utilisation&quot; a dit Carl Dionne, vice-président recherche et développement. &quot;Nos clients ont acclamé la flexibilité de Rendez-Vous et peuvent maintenant l'utiler à son plein potentiel dans des délais de développement minimes. Nous avons écouté leurs idées et nous fournissons aujourd'hui des produits qui dépassent même leurs attentes.&quot;

&quot;Nous utilisons Rendez-Vous depuis un moment maintenant, et avons identifié le besoin du système de causerie de style IRC dans notre jeu, Spellforce 2,&quot; a dit Dirk Ringe, directeur technique au logiciel de Phenomic.  &quot;Nous aurions pu développé un système approprié avec la version précédente de Rendez-Vous, mais cela aurait été plus difficile.  Nous en avons parlé avec Quazal, et ils ont nous ont livré un produit qui va au delà de nos exigences.&quot;

<title>Les Commandos sont de retour!</title>
<link>http://www.quazal.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=66</link>

&quot;J'ai été un fan de la série de commandos pendant des années, principalement dû à leur originalité et au défi unique.  Travailler avec des studios de Pyro sur Commandos: Strike Force est une grande occasion pour Quazal et montre à quel point les gens d'Eidos sont heureux de travailler avec notre technologie&quot; a dit Mike Drummelsmith, directeur de relations avec les développeurs de Quazal.  &quot;Travailler avec des studios d'Eidos et de Pyro a été une grande expérience, et nous savons que cela mènera à un grand jeu en ligne!&quot;

<link>http://www.quazal.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=65</link>
<description>QUAZAL A UN RENDEZ-VOUS AVEC JOWOOD

The Guild 2 and Panzer Elite Action.

&quot;L'engagement renouvellé de JoWooD pour trois titres additionnels démontre leur niveau de satisfaction sur des technologies de Quazal.  Cette décision vient après une évaluation complète et une réaction positive par Phenomic sur Rendez- Vous&quot; a dit Jean Lachance, vice-président des ventes chez Quazal.  &quot;Nous sommes excités à travailler avec eux sur ces titres, et attondons avec beaucoup d'intérêt un volume d'affaire plus grand pour l'avenir.&quot;

L'intégration de la technologie de Rendez-Vous de Quazal dans ces jeux permettra aux développeurs de réaliser toutes les fonctionalités qui se retrouvaient sur leurs listes de souhait, qui aurait été beaucoup plus difficiles à développer, voire impossible, en utilisant un système moins flexible que Rendez-Vous.  &quot;Il a été très facile d'employer les services de Rendez-Vous, et constatons l'ampleur de la puissance qui est fourni par Quazal aux développeurs&quot; selon Olivier  Martin de Wizarbox.  &quot;Nous avons pu démarrer rapidement, contrôler les serveurs de développement comme nous avons souhaité, et mettons en application les dispositifs que nous avons besoin pour notre jeu.&quot;

Crave Entertainment’s online titles will use Quazal technology for three years

MONTRÉAL, CANADA – January 25th, 2006 – Quazal, the leading independent provider of online multiplayer components for PCs and consoles games and Crave Entertainment, a publisher of interactive entertainment products, today announces that they have entered into a long-term agreement for the use of Quazal’s online technologies in Crave Entertainment’s gaming products.

“We’re very happy to be entering into this agreement with Crave Entertainment, with whom we’ve recently worked with on World Championship Poker 2. This game was, to our knowledge, the first released title to allow cross-platform gaming between PS2 and PSP,” said Sylvain Beaudry, President and CEO of Quazal. “We look forward to the titles we’ll be working on with Crave over the next three years, the first of which will hit shelves later this year.”

Quazal’s technologies including Rendez-Vous allow for reliable implementation of online gameplay features, letting developers quickly build a lobby and matchmaking system with community features, stats-tracking features and even more unique features that go beyond the scope of a typical game lobby. With Net-Z, developers and publishers can apply different forms of networking theory easily to cover almost any genre of game they can think up, allowing robust online play in a variety of game situations.

“After shipping our first online game with Quazal, and getting feedback from our developers, it was clear that the best choice for Crave was to choose Quazal’s technology for all of our online games, “stated Jim Flaherty, Executive Producer at Crave Entertainment. “It will be great to have many Crave titles online over the next three years, and all sharing a common userbase on most platforms.”

The developers working with Crave agree.

“We shipped World Championship Poker 2 in late 2005 using Quazal’s Net-Z on four platforms and Rendez-Vous on three. The game was one of the first to have cross platform online compatibility between PS2 and PSP! I can safely say in retrospect that we could not have done it without Quazal,” added Rob Sandberg, Producer at Point of View, Inc. “I cannot commend the guys up there in Montréal enough. Their software delivered everything as advertised and Quazal support is second to none. If you are a console or PC developer and are developing online titles, Quazal is the only way to go.”

Quazal’s robust products, proven track record and solid support were decisive factors in this long term agreement. The first games to fall under this agreement are due later this year on all major platforms including next-gen.

<title>Quazal Releases Net-Z 4.3 and Rendez-Vous 2.0</title>
<link>http://www.quazal.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=62</link>
<description>New versions of Quazal’s network middleware target ease-of-use

Montreal, Quebec (January 4th, 2006) - Quazal, the leading independent provider of online multiplayer components for PCs and consoles games, today introduces new versions of Quazal Net-Z&amp;reg;, the award-winning game state engine that powers the highly acclaimed Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory cooperative mode and Quazal Rendez-Vous&amp;reg;, the most versatile lobby and matchmaking service available in the industry.

&quot;This new product line is a leap forward in term of robustness, functionality and ease-of-use.&quot; said Carl Dionne, Vice-President Research and Development.  &quot;Our customers lauded Rendez-Vous' flexibility and they wanted to harness its full potential with minimal development. We listened to their ideas and we deliver today something that goes even beyond what they wished for.&quot;

Already acclaimed for their highly efficient NAT traversal capabilities, both Net-Z and Rendez-Vous now add in uPnP support, letting those last few users with very strict routers join in the fun. The new Rendez-Vous 2.0 adds numerous features out-of-the-box, such as an IRC-style chat system that encourages social interaction in the game lobby, CD-key validation to control software piracy, automatic type extension to empower developers with full database control with just a few lines of code and a package system to enable cross-game deployment of custom features as easily as drag-and-drop.

&quot;We've been using Rendez-Vous for a while now, and identified the need for an IRC-style chat system in our game, Spellforce 2,&quot; said Dirk Ringe, Technical Director at Phenomic Software.  &quot;While we could have built a suitable system under the previous version of Rendez-Vous, it would have been more difficult.  We requested the feature from Quazal, and they've gone far beyond the requirements, meeting our needs and addressing some more that we may need in the future.&quot;

Quazal products are being used throughout the world, from Melbourne to London, and from Taiwan to Los Angeles. Quazal stands behind its products and provide a complete service level agreement (SLA) with Rendez-Vous 2.0, with guaranteed server uptime, and some of the most responsive technical support in the industry directly from the development team.

<title>Commandos going online!</title>
<link>http://www.quazal.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=61</link>
<description>The Commandos Are Back, and This Time, They’re Online!

Montreal, Quebec (October 19th, 2005) - Quazal, makers of the Net-Z and Rendez-Vous online multiplayer middleware, and Eidos Interactive, a leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment content, today announced that the upcoming game Commandos Strike Force&amp;trade; will be powered by Quazal technology to provide online multiplayer gaming.

Commandos Strike Force is the fourth game in the multi-million selling Commandos series developed by Pyro Studios. With Strike Force, the series has received a major overhaul and is now an FPS, while still retaining the concepts that made Commandos so unique. Gamers will find themselves deep behind enemy lines on a wide variety of missions that need all the skills the Commandos have to offer. Three Special Forces soldiers, the Green Beret, Sniper and Spy, offer different solutions to different challenges. How you execute a plan of attack is up to you. With online play powered by Quazal's Net-Z and lobby services provided through Quazal Rendez-Vous, Commandos Strike Force will feature a number of original online play modes for gamers to enjoy.

&quot;I've been a fan of the Commandos series for years due to their originality and challenge. Working with Pyro Studios on Commandos Strike Force is a great opportunity for Quazal and shows how pleased Eidos is with our technology,&quot; said Mike Drummelsmith, Developer Relations Manager of Quazal. &quot;Working with Eidos and Pyro Studios has been a great experience all around, and we know that'll lead to a great online game!&quot;

The Net-Z technology used in Commandos Strike Force allows Pyro Studios to focus their efforts on building solid gameplay ideas and a great playing game, rather than dealing with low-level networking, while Rendez-Vous gives Eidos a low-risk, low-hassle online solution as Quazal handles all hosting duties and other headaches of online game development such as NAT traversal.

&quot;We've been working with Quazal for a number of months now, and both the technology as well as the quality and level of support have been outstanding,&quot; stated Ismael Raya Roa, Lead Programmer at Pyro Studios. &quot;We've implemented some very cool modes for Commandos Strike Force, and thanks to Quazal we can spend our time where it counts most - on the gameplay!&quot;

<title>Quazal has a Rendez-Vous with JoWooD</title>
<link>http://www.quazal.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=60</link>
<description>QUAZAL HAS A RENDEZ-VOUS WITH JOWOOD

Montreal, Quebec (October 5th, 2005) - Quazal, makers of the Net-Z and Rendez-Vous online multiplayer middleware, and JoWooD Productions Software AG, a publisher of interactive games for home consoles and home computers announce today that JoWooD has chosen Quazal's Rendez-Vous technology as the basis for three of their upcoming online games, SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars, The Guild 2 and Panzer Elite Action.

These titles are due for release in early 2006, and are in development at Phenomic Game Development, 4Head Studios and Wizarbox, respectively.

&quot;JoWooD's renewed commitment for three additional titles demonstrates their level of satisfaction on Quazal technologies. This decision comes after a thorough evaluation and positive feedback by Phenomic on Rendez-Vous,&quot;said Jean Lachance, VP of Sales at Quazal. &quot;We are excited to work with them on these titles, and looking forward to many more in the future.&quot;

Integration of Quazal's Rendez-Vous technology into these games will allow the developers to implement all of their feature wish lists, which may have been far more difficult, if not impossible, using a less flexible lobby and matchmaking system.

&quot;The Rendez-Vous service has been very easy to use, with a lot of power given to us, the developers,&quot; stated Olivier Martin of Wizarbox. &quot;We could get started quickly, manage the development servers as we wished, and implement the features we need for our game.&quot;

From the publishing side, the lower risk of using a proven system such as Rendez-Vous, as well as the strong developer support which goes hand in hand with the flexible technology is an even more important boon.

&quot;As a publisher, we care about three things. Does the tech work, does it let us deliver our game on time, and is it affordable within our budget,&quot; added Michael Paeck of JoWooD. &quot;Working with Quazal has allowed us to address each of these issues clearly, making our lobby development cycle much easier.&quot;

Look for these titles to hit stores early in 2006, from JoWooD. Developers interested in Quazal's technology can visit http://www.quazal.com for more details, or e-mail inf&#111;&#064;&#113;uazal.com.
